Titan - an orange virgin Earth
Jan 17, 2005 11: 05 EST
The first images and sound files have arrived - apart from ice blocks strewn around - it looks like the coast line of California...
The scientists are beyond themselves - after the data arrived ( a human glitch destroyed half of it) the folks at ESA didn't sleep for 30 hours. As the first images materialized, the guys were stunned.
There seems to be black oceans, ice blocks, flat round rocks and mountains. The moon is glowing orange with a giant shady Saturn looming beyond the thick atmosphere.
Scientists involved in the European Space Agency's Huygens probe which was scheduled to land Friday after a seven year long expedition, were moved to tears.
The landing is the farthest yet by any manmade object. Go check it all on ESA's website.
